Canon EOS 5D Mark II review
I can not say much more than what has already been said but in my arsenal of lenses Canon and non-Canon, I found that IQ differences are visible today as my 30D could not "see" the differences. lenses are Canon EF 70-200 mm f4, Canon EF 28-135m f4-f5.6, Sigma 18-50 mm f2.8-, Tokina 11-16 mm f2.8-. First, the Tokina digital. As expected, the sticker is wrong, but 16mm to 11mm perfectly acceptable and still alive. The Sigma has not been tested yet. The Canon EF 28-135 mm is sweet to all settings and the Canon EF 70-200 mm is excellent at all levels of zoom. With a forthcoming trip to California and Oregon coast I have the Canon EF 70-200 mm and the Tokina and took two to the test. I guess the Sigma may be fine to 50 mm, because it shows some weakness below f5.6 on my 30D.
I'll report on my successes and the not so great success.
I bought the Canon 5D for its video quality, I really am a Nikon user for many years and in fact I use it with Nikon lenses. I found that Canon does tweak images in camera more Nikon Nikon fact I prefer to use when it comes to photos.
The video quality is the reason I got it, I do movies documentary the nature and used a Panasonic HVX-200 with 35mm lens adapter for a more cinematic and the ability to use long Nikon lenses.
I got two more wishes and it was fun at first, but the camera turned into a huge, heavy monster. This along with the rest of the equipment made me stop using the adapter and finally sold the unit.
To most of the needs of my video camera with a good I now have a HPX-150 P2 and ripped and the adapter and leave.
The Canon 5D is not a video camera in itself and can not be used seamlessly as one, but the image quality it produces is fantastic and is working hard to get pictures with him.
You'll need to refresh your technique that you need to know what you do with the speed and f stops and ND filters and lighting. The 5D reminds one of the cameras, once the aperture is set up (he turns 180 degrees) it is a shoot / stop button on the camera!
If your dilemma be 5D or 7D ... 5D go! The image is more organic and the higher number of pixels of the sensor may appear in terms of better resolution and better images low light.
Nikon lenses work perfectly and quite inexpensive adapters are available and work with SD cards is great!
Cons ... not quality sound real, and it's a big con that you'll eventually need a portable recorder and sync with one of the images obtained.
You do need to work on ergonomics as it is designed to be a camera and it is difficult to move like a camera real moving image.
