How to teach this old dog new tricks
Have you ever seen a well trained dog and thought, "I wish my dog can do stuff like that?
It is probably the dream of most dog owners to be able to teach their pets to do some things they see other dogs do, but there is something they should not forget all the other above before starting on the path of teaching tricks. The dog must have at least some basic obedience. There is not much chance to teach stuff if it's a badly behaved dog in the first place.
Basic commands such as sit, down, heel etc, should be known to your dog before the start of training trick because it will make life so much easier later. Once these have been mastered, you can begin to consolidate and your dog will soon be amazing your friends with three simple tips.
Begging
To start teaching this trick, it is better to have your dog sit in a corner of the room's back wall and you stand before him. Supporting walls of your dog and give him confidence it will not fall if it raises its front legs on the ground.
Take a few small pieces of food and hold it over your dog while pushing him to reach for him. Every time he takes the food, praise and repeat slowly encouraging him to go farther each time.
While encouraging the dog to reach for food, you must make sure he keeps his hips on the ground. This is achieved by moving food above his head slightly to make the dog move his weight back on her hips and teach him to keep his balance.
Once the trick was begging bee mastered in the corner of the room, you can gradually begin to move away from the wall and the practice of tower where the dog has no back support. You should expect at this stage that the dog seems to go back in their learning, but this must be provided before it can perfectly just using its own weight.
Shaking hands
There are two parts to this trick for your dog to learn. A verbal part and a non-verbal which both work together to give the dog a cue that you want him to do the trick.
First the dog must start sitting. Give him a verbal command word such as "shake" while simultaneously touching with his right hand until he is just a few inches from your dog's leg right. Your outstretched hand is the non-verbal signal.
Initially, your dog probably sit still sure what to do so with your left hand, gently push or prod her right leg forward until it rests in the right hand. When he did, praise him so that he knows he has done what you wanted him to do.
Practice this trick several times, after praising each positive result, and gradually reduce the amount of the left hand until only encouraging verbal and nonverbal signals are all that are needed.
Shaking his head, "No."
Before you can start teaching this trick to your dog, you'll need to find something that will him shake his head naturally. There are things that can help are blowing gently on the ear, tickling the ear with a pen or even slightly attach a paper clip to the ear - remember that you should not cause the dog pain.
Once you have found the method that makes it shake your head, you will have to decide which index verbal and nonverbal you want to use. One word as "head" with shrug is just an idea.
Again your dog should start sitting in teaching him this trick first. As in the shaking hand trick, use both indices together with the prod (tickle the ear, etc.) in an effort to stimulate your dog to shake his head. Once Indeed, the reward, even if it is just a small movement.
This trick is best learned in short sessions with breaks momentary between the two, do not try to repeat the exercise more than five times in one session or the dog is confused and does not learn.
Little little, reduce the amount of prodding so that all that is needed are the verbal and nonverbal. Once your dog has mastered the trick, it may be advanced to learn standing and laying positions as well.
The main thing with training dogs to perform tricks for the owner to learn that patience is a virtue and the dog learn at his age. Do not scold the dog if it does not seem to be learning, it is always better to be patient and encouraging more.
