It depends. You have some options, but you must first figure a few things.
The last time you visited one stores such as Staples Office Supplies, Office Max or Office Depot, I'm sure you saw row after row of units of office copy printing, scanning and / or fax. When I was an account manager and sales manager at a manufacturer of leading copier, I spent many of my questions commissioning time small business owners asking if they really need to go to a copier company to buy large a new copier. As I said, here are some things you should consider:
1. What is your total monthly copy and / or volume printing? If you do not know the answer to this question, go and pull your invoices for your purchases last paper. Estimate what percentage of paper was used for the function. For example: 60% used for print jobs, 30% for copy jobs and 10% for faxing. You bought 10 reams of paper to 500 sheets per ream. You used it all within two months. Therefore, you must copy and print approximately 2,000 frames per months (90% of 5,000 sheets = 4000 / 2 months, the analysis do not use paper). If your volume is well below 1,000 a month, your needs are probably best served by the office supply superstore. But, read on ...
2. Do you make color prints or color copies? If yes, what is the importance quality image for you? Overall, the picture quality on the DTU is pretty basic and not conducive to the creation marketing materials or an impressive photo-quality printing. The "big boys" do a better job on that.
3. Are you volume of outsourcing copy or print (black / white and color)? If yes, have you considered translating the internal job? Often it is cheaper to do these jobs on your own system, but this increase should be calculated in the final volume of your system monthly new copy.
4. Does your book fairly uniform throughout the year or you scale up the volume peaks at certain times of the year? For example, an accountant could see quadruple in volume during tax time and would like to choose a system that is capable of withstanding this level of wear and tear season.
5.Once you find a model that interests you in the office supply store, ask that the price for the toner cartridge. Ask what the yield toner and that the fill rate is the amount of toner. Ask if the drum cartridge is a separate unit and if so, what is the return on this part of the drum. Use this information to determine your cost per copy / print this model. The equation is as follows: the cost of toner / drum + toner cost drum yield = total cost of consumables. Filling ratio is an important detail to ask questions.
Usually, these numbers are listed on a standard scale of the industry to a ratio of 6% filling. This means that you take a sheet of paper and toner ink transfer with only 6% of the page. Indeed, this is equivalent a two-sentence letter. How many times have you copy or print a page with a lot more ink on the page? I guess the answer is .... a lot. You must account for this disparity by assuming the yield toner will really be about 25% of what was quoted to you. Compare that to the price you receive a copy of the manufacturer. Usually, you will pay much more for an equivalent copier purchased from a copy constructor, but the cost exploitation is often much less because the cost of toner is much cheaper. It is well worth your time to make these comparisons in order to ensure you get the most for your money.
6. Would you be able to call a service technician and ask him to come directly to your desktop repair the system? Usually, a large area of office supplies forces you to put the system into the shop for repairs or even refer to the manufacturer yourself, if there are problems. Make no mistake, the system must be repaired.
7. Would you be able to rent equipment through a lease? There are many tax benefits and cash flow considerations in favor of the lease. An equipment manufacturer multifunction can give you options of leasing a store for many office supplies can not.
