Electronic repair - Is this a trading company die?
Several times I received the same questions from my students and Friends wonder whether the online electronic repair is a dying trade. My answer to them was it depends on how you treat your company electronic repair. In other words, how can they manage their electronic repair company. I know that in the current situation in many consumers prefer to buy a new set rather than repair because electronic equipment is getting cheaper and cheaper. This is true that for some types of equipment, but not all the material!
Let me ask you some questions, you need to buy a new TV LCD TV if your LCD has a sound problem? Would you buy a new monitor if there is a color problem? Would you buy a new LaserJet printer just because of paper jam? Or would you prefer to buy a new printer matrix just because of alignment? If you talk the less expensive range of equipment as a VCD or even a DVD (any brand), so users can simply get rid of the trash and get a new unit with a one year warranty with no trouble and hassle of sending the machine to a repair shop. If the equipment cost several hundreds or thousands of dollars, without a doubt users should send it for repair if users are very rich. Based on the current economic situation, many users are willing to send their machines or equipment to repair compare to buying a new plant unless the equipment is beyond repair as a lack of spare parts, lightning, etc.
Let me share a story true with you. Few years back, my sister bought a cheap no brand 21 "TV that was half the price of television brand. After two weeks, the TV front panel button press broken, not only that, the remote does not work that way. Because of these problems, it can not set or change the TV setting. I tried to fix it but everything inside was so fragile. The image quality produced is so dull and lacking in contrast. Since this experience I learned my lesson and would not purchase any brand of equipment to the future.
The new LCD TV 32 "set that I bought a few months ago was an LG brand. Although there are no sign of the cheapest LCD TV (less expensive RM1000.00), I do not buy it because I know the quality is much higher than that mark. The reason I told you this story is time will tell if the behavior change buyers. That is, the consumer becomes more intelligent and can reject any something that would not be short and low quality. Would you buy a new TV and expect a period of one year and then replaced by another? I do not think so because the amount of money you spent on buying a TV is expected to last as long as he could and give you satisfaction in terms of quality wise, am I right?
If most consumers are back in back to the brand of equipment and do not mind spending a little more in the long run, this benefits us as an electronic repairer. Why? Because we would get more things to fix (consumers never scrap their equipment) and the profit margin is higher.
Now, assuming that customers return the unit for you to repair, how fast can we fix it and how is your level of communication (people skills) with customers (either end users or dealers) would really affect your business. Even if you are the best electronic repairer in the world and not knowing how to communicate or talk to your customers, your repair company can end up losing your competitors. In today's competitive business environment, you need to build a strong relationship with customers, more than ever. I understand that most of us as an electronic repairman as technical stuff have some difficulty in dealing with customers (communication). The way we convince our clients is not as good as those born with a natural gift (like a good salesman) that they can easily treat customers like their friends. I'm not here to ask you to compare with them, but we have the choice to improve. Many of us like to live in our comfortable place (Engineering) and focus our repair work and at the same time ignore what is happening around (including to receive your customers) am I right? My friends, if no sales and no customers, there would be nothing for us to repair. Without sales, there would be no activity in your company!
I met some of my friends who had abandoned their repair business electronic repair services and find another job because of the strong competition in this field of repair. When I asked them why would you leave your repair business? The response I received from them was less things for them to repair today and income can not sustain their daily expenses. I asked again, did you go looking for new clients such as faxing, visiting electronic stores or computer distribution of flyers, etc. The response that I'm really surprised me and you. It is not! You see, as mentioned above, if no sales future repair your business will surely close. Not only that most of them have no skills of the population convince their customers. Sales will not come to your door himself if recommended by your friends or clients. Why these large companies hire thousands of vendor? Because no means no sales of business!
I confess that I lack both skills have too many people, but that does not prevent not improve. The best book that changed my way of thinking and approach clients and teaches you how to start a conversation was: "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie. The information I had absorbed inside and now I have the courage and confidence when meeting new clients and customers. Besides this book I have read other books, including "The Millionaire Mindset" by Gerry Robert, Rich Dad Poor Dad "by Robert Kiyosaki T," Who Moved My Cheese "by Dr. Spencer Johnson and many others. These books really changed my mentality and thinking and you can use their ideas and apply them in your repair business. Please do not just read technical books only, open your mind and start reading books that can improve your life, business, sales, etc.
I a friend who is a millionaire and now thousands of dollars every day to me that every time he goes to work every day, he must learn new things or if he actually does not work! Wow! It's a powerful quote by him and his word is really awake and motivates me to improve myself every day. We do can not be stagnant for the rest of their life differently, even if after 10 to 20 years, your life would be the same. Always learning and improving themselves to excel in their lives. Do not wait for things to happen, you make things happen! This friend of mine actually went bankrupt 15 years ago and now if chooses not to work the money still keep pouring into his bank account. He never showed any signs of withdrawal during this time of difficulty. Winner never quit!
Bill your customers with reasonable price, to build a good relationship with your clients or customers, do not cheat, work hard and intelligently, you improve and learn how to get sales and perseverance in you, I do not see why a person may fail in its electronic repair company. Right now, my company still has a lot of clients sending observers and defective printers for us repair and LCD repair lately is a blessing for us because we can charge a higher price.
Finally, if you Serve your customers satisfactorily, you will soon have a large base of loyal customers who will promote your organization or business, make you feel satisfied, happy and most important profit, which is your ultimate goal the establishment of an electronic repair service company. Now is your choice if you want to change and improve or stay where you are because "success is a 'Choice.
