Programming a Siemens S7-300 Programmable Logic Controller
Do you have a Siemens S7-300 Programmable Logic Controller that you are not familiar with, but you must program NOW! Following is a quick set of instructions that I put together to help you get started programming a Siemens S7-300. I have the same instructions with photos on my site www.saturdayafternoonhobbies.com
After loading the software programming and connecting a Siemens MPI cable between your computer and PLC programming, open SIMATIC Manager clicking the icon on the desktop The wizard of STEP 7:. "New Project" window opens. It is easier to use wizard configuration for communication with your PLC, but I chose to take the scenic route. I thought I would learn more that way. So close the window of the STEP 7 Wizard by clicking Cancel. If you have any other windows or open projects, close them. We want to start with a program totally new.
Create a new project by clicking New Project on the toolbar at the top left of your screen.
The New Project window opens. Here you'll see everything. Existing programs are on your computer to the bottom of the window you will see the name. Entry Form Type what you want the name of your new project and click O
A new window opens showing the name of your project on top. You'll also see your project window on the left side of the screen upwards. Right-click your project and select "Insert New Object". Choose the device will be programming. We will use the SIMATIC station 300 in order to choose your selection.
You'll see appear SIMATIC 300 in the right window of your screen. It should be highlighted in blue. Click anywhere in the window to the blue disappears. Double click on SIMATIC 300 and moves to the left window and "Hardware" will appear in the right window.
Double click on "Hardware" and two (possibly three) new windows on the left will SIMATIC 300 -.. (The name of your project) The right window will be the parts catalog.
Look in the right window, the parts catalog, and click the plus sign next to SIMATIC 300.
Click on the plus side RACK -. 300 Click and drag the rail on the left window. You will see the window slot. This is where we will place our PLC components
We first choose our CPU. Looking at the parts catalog in the SIMATIC 300 trees, choose the processor you use We use CPU -. 300 to click the plus sign next to this choice.
Now look at the top left front of your PLC. This is where you find the model PLC. I will use CPU313C DP-2 as an example because it is the PLC model I use.
Find the processor in your catalog parts and click the plus sign. You will now see some part numbers.
Return to your PLC. Locate the door covering the MPI port. This will the lower left side of the controller. At the bottom of the door, you find the part number. The part number for the controller I'm taking as an example is 313-6CF03-0AB0.
Find this part number in the parts catalog. You will notice this is another matter. Open it and you will see and V2.0 V2.6. Look back at the PLC, opened the door covering the MPI, and just above the MPI V2.6.3 you will see.
Return to parts catalog and click on V2.6. Notice how a slot in the left window will highlight in green. I think he will slot # 2. (Slot # 1 is reserved for power.) Is where you drag and drop your CPU. (Notice the software will not let you put the CPU in any location, but other slot # 2.)
When you release the mouse button on slot # 2, a new window opens, "Properties - PROFIBUS interface" .. Click New new window opens, click OK, then click OK again We're not setting up a network at this time.
You will see Then your CPU and related hardware listed.
Double-click in the slot list your DI16/DO16 (Digital Input / Digital Output).
A window with three tabs open. The first tab will be general, the second tab is Address and the third tab will be entered.
Open the tab "Addresses". We need to change the default address. To do this, by removing the system default button and change 124 (or any other addresses you have) to 0. To do this, both for inputs and outputs.
We now need to change the station address. Go back to the window where you double-clicked DI16/DO16 and double-click in the slot 2, slot CPU 313-2DP.
Properties - CPU 313C-2DP window open.
Look down the window a little more halfway and find the interface zone and click Properties. Another window "Properties - MPI interface CPU 313-2DP" will open.
Change the address to meet your specific criteria. I know my laptop, which I use in my PLC program is still considered one and my target PLC is usually addressed as 2. You will probably be the same.
Now click on MPI (1) and click OK. Click OK to close the Properties window.
Save and Compile by clicking the icon located on the left of the toolbar.
Download the hardware configuration of the PLC click on the download icon located on the toolbar.
A window titled "Select Target Module" should open. Click OK.
Another window titled "Select the station address" will open. You should see your node address listed for the PLC you work with as you configured in previous step. If this is not seen, click and click any node address is displayed and click OK.
Switch Back to the SIMATIC Manager (by clicking on the tab on the taskbar).
Click Options. Choose PG / PC Interface. Select PC Adapter (Auto).
Click Properties. A new window opens, displaying either automatic bus detection profile or LAN connection. Click Local Area Connection and select USB. Now Bus choose Automatic Profile Detection and change the address to 30. You can now check your connection by clicking Start detection network. If a new window opens and displays the type of MPI =, = 187.5kbps Transmission Rates, you have established communication with your S7-300. Click Close. Click OK. Click OK.
It is now time to start programming. In view of the SIMATIC Manager window, click the plus sign next to SIMATIC 300 (1), click the plus sign next to CPU 313C-2DP, click the plus sign next to S7 Program (1). Now click on the blocks and you see system data and OB1 appear in the window right on your screen.
Double-click the OB1 and open a new window named Properties - Block Organization
Here you can choose how you want to program in the LAD (ladder), STL (statement list) or FBD (function block diagram). Choose that you want and click OK.
Double-click again and OB1 LAD / STL / FBD window Programming will be open.
You can now start programming.

Logic Synthesis for Control Automata $465.21 Logic Synthesis for Control Automata provides techniques for logic design of very complex control units with hardly any constraints on their size, i.e. the number of inputs, outputs and states. These techniques cover all stages of control unit design, including: description of control unit behavior by using operator schemes of algorithms (binary decision trees) and various transformations of these descriptions composition, decomposition, minimization, etc.; synthesis of a control automaton (finitestate machine); synthesis of an automaton logic circuit: with matrix structure as a part of LSI or VLSI circuits; as multilevel circuit with logic gates; with standard LSI and VLSI circuits with and without memory. Each chapter contains many examples, illustrating the use of the models and methods described. Moreover, the special last chapter demonstrates in detail the whole design methodology presented in the previous chapters, through the examples of the logic design for a control unit. The models, methods and algorithms described in the book can be applied to a broad class of digital system design problems including design of complex controllers, robots, control units of computers and for designing CAD systems of VLSI circuits using FPGA, PLD and SIC technologies. Logic Synthesis for Control Automata is a valuable reference for graduate students, researchers and engineers involved in the design of very complex controllers, VLSI circuits and CAD systems. The inclusion of many examples and problems makes it most suitable for a course on the subject. Author: Baranov, Samaray/ Baranov, S. I. Fuzzy Logic, Identification and Predictive Control $285.17 Modern industrial processes and systems require adaptable advanced control protocols able to deal with circumstances demanding judgement rather than simple yes/no, on/off responses: circumstances where a linguistic description is often more relevant than a cutanddried numerical one. The ability of fuzzy systems to handle numeric and linguistic information within a single framework renders them efficacious for this purpose. Fuzzy Logic, Identification and Predictive Control first shows you how to construct static and dynamic fuzzy models using the numerical data from a variety of real industrial systems and simulations. The second part exploits such models to design control systems employing techniques like data mining. This monograph presents a combination of fuzzy control theory and industrial serviceability that will make a telling contribution to your research whether in the academic or industrial sphere and also serves as a fine roundup of the fuzzy control area for the graduate student. State Logic $86.03 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles A State logic control system is a programming method created for PLCs. A state logic control system uses a state transition diagram as a model of reality, thus using the fundamentals of finite state machine theory as the basis of a programming language. State logic enables users to model the application they are trying to control by using a hierarchy that consists of Tasks, subdivided by States which are described by Statements. Tasks are a description of a sequential activity of the model. The machines, applications or processes being modelled by state logic will usually contain more than one task, representing several different and possibly parallel activities. Each of these activities will contain a given number of states. As in finite state machine theory, only one state will be active at a time, and certain inputs and outputs will cause the transition between different states. Logic Synthesis for Compositional Microprogram Control Units $129 The control unit is one of the most important parts of any digital system. As a rule, control units have an irregular structure, which makes the processing of their logic circuits design very sophisticated. One possible way to optimise such characteristics as the size or performance of control units is to adapt their structures to the particular properties of interpreted control algorithms. In this book control algorithms are represented by the linear graph-schemes of algorithms (GSA), where the number of operator vertices is not less than 75% of the total number of all algorithm vertices. A special class of control units named as compositional microprogram control units (CMCU) is proposed as the best way for interpretation of linear control algorithms. The CMCU includes a finite state machine, which addresses microinstructions of interpreted microprogram, and a microprogram control unit including control memory, which keeps only microoperations of initial GSA. The microprogram control unit uses the principle of natural addressing of microinstructions. Organization of the control unit proposed in the book increases regularity of the circuit, because the system of microoperations is implemented using standard blocks, such as PROM or RAM. At the same time, an irregular part of the system described by means of Boolean functions is reduced. It permits a decrease in the total number of logical elements (PAL, GAL, PLA, FPGA) in comparison with other models of finite state machines. The main goal of all proposed methods is reduction of the number of field-programmable logic devices used for implementation of logic circuit of the addressing FSM. This book will be interesting and usefulfor students and postgraduates in the area of Computer Science and for designers of modern digital devices. Compositional microprogram control units enlarge the class of models applied for implementation of control units with modern field-programmable logic devices. |
