REVIEW OF OUR LAST ARTICLE
In our last article we saw how our skin works as a protective barrier and how it works to absorb the ingredients we have for her. We discussed the night of synthetic products on the skin and addressed some ingredients commonly found in skin care are harmful to our skin and health. September Arrows Color Connection web site and Toxic Truth (http://www.toxictruth.com) will now finish their series of "Discover what lurks in your bathroom" articles addressing some ingredients found in most bathrooms and adverse effects they have on our bodies.
What are the harmful ingredients?
There are many ingredients that could be labeled as "harmful" if they are not used in the right way and for good reason. For example, the three main anti-freeze ingredients are: water, ethylene glycol and diethylene glycol. Now used in the cooling system of your car these ingredients are fantastic and keep your car running in the tip, top shape. But have you ever taken the time to read the warning labels on the back of an antifreeze jug? Here one of them (especially the pitcher I've watched a total of four warning labels or (4) pre-warning on the back of it).
Here are the warnings that are found on some of these products: "WARNING: Do not drink antifreeze or solution. Do not inhale mist or vapors hot. Avoid prolonged exposure. Avoid contact with eyes. "Another warning says:" Wash exposed skin with soap and water after use. "These are just some of the warnings on the back label.
Why should we talk antifreeze. After all, we do not put anti freeze to your skin. Everybody knows we've put antifreeze in a car. Two of the three ingredients in antifreeze is glycol based. Glycol and its derivatives are everywhere in skin care and personal care products. If you do not believe it, take a bottle of shampoo, cleanser or lotion. Many of they have glycol in them, especially the cleaners. You see, this is what Propylene glycol - a cleaner garage floor!
Here is an explanation Scientific Propylene Glycol (PG). PG butylene glycol (BG), polyethylene glycol (PEG) and ethylene glycol (EG) are derivatives oil that act as solvents, surfactants and setting agents. They can easily penetrate the skin and can weaken protein and structure Cell. In fact, PG penetrates the skin so quickly that the EPA warns factory workers to avoid skin contact to prevent brain, liver, kidney abnormalities. PG is present in stick deodorants, often in heavier concentration than in most industrial applications. 50 and propylene Glycol is what is used to transport the "active" ingredients in these trans dermal patches in your body. ("Toxicological profile for ethylene glycol and propylene glycol (UPDATE). "Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR). Atlanta, GA: U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Department Service, 1996).
Some of the worst offenders in our personal care products are as follows: Ethyl paraben (related to the disruption of hormones, possible birth defects), DEA, MEA, TEA. These are emulsifiers and foaming agents deep in soaps, shampoos, etc. that have been linked to (Memory loss, confusion, and cancer). Sodium laureth sulfate, possible contamination with dioxin. A 1992 survey by the FDA found 54 ethoxylated raw materials used in cosmetics have been tested, all 54 contained 1,4-dioxane. In addition, 1,4-dioxane was highly toxic in 27 of 30 children bubble bath and shampoo. "Nontoxic, Natural and Earthwise," Debra Lynn Dadd, Jeremy P. Tarcher, Inc., Los Angeles, CA, 1990.
You'll never see dioxane ingredients on the ingredient label because it is a byproduct of many of the other ingredients. Dioxins are a class of chemicals containing chlorine widely acknowledged that some of the most toxic chemicals ever made by man. A 1992 survey FDA discovered the highly toxic 1,4-dioxane in 27 of 30 children bubble bath and shampoo. In addition, 54 ethoxylated raw materials used in products cosmetics were tested, all 54 contained 1,4-dioxane. Some of the worst criminals that you find on most labels are:
• SLS
• BHA and BHT (Linked to behavioral problems),
• Parabens (linked as hormone disrupters)
• PABA and PABA esters (linked to play a role in heritable genetic damage)
• The phthalates (linked to cause birth defects in animals, and are present in a high percentage of pregnant women and children bearing age). Phthalates have been banned in Europe.
Let us not forget fluoride. Have you ever read the warning label on the back of a tube of toothpaste? Here's one: "Warnings Keep out of reach of children under 6 years. of age. If more than used for brushing is accidentally swallowed, get medical help or contact a poison control center
Center right away. "
Are you still afraid? We should be, but do not take my word for it. See for yourself. It is the purpose of this article. Look at the labels. Learn. Take a stand and do something. Until we do, we will continue to be to thank you for these ingredients and the manufacturers.
I have listed some of the "side effects" of some of these ingredients. Here's a little more "alarming" facts.

• Depression and mood swings,
• Male genital anomalies,
• emotional disturbances,
• brain development,
• Obesity
• Learning Disorders,
• low sperm count,
• Reduces IQ and memory,
• Cancer
• Gender Identity Confusion

This is a partial list of some of these "price" we pay, especially our children, for the things we on our skin to make us look and feel good.
Where is the hope?
There is hope and it comes from within. The first flap just hope these people like you who are willing to take a stand. Hope comes from education. Hope comes from the information. Hope comes when we all take that first step.
Look for the seal.
