Copying Machine Supply - A brief history of XEROX
Xerox was founded in 1906. Meanwhile, it was called "The Haloid Company" which was in manufacturing photographic paper and related material. But it was in 1959 when the company became popular with the introduction of its first ordinary photocopier paper. The technology used was the xerography, which is also called electro-photography was developed by Chester Carlson, the Xerox 914. The popularity of 914 jumps and increased limits and at the end of the year 1961 the turnover of Xerox closed at $ 60 dollars. In the years following the increase in revenues was humungous and at the end of 1965 Xerox was richer by $ 500 000 000.
Throughout the 1960s the company continued to expand at a rapid pace. Investors who have served the company in its rough phase of research and development slow turned millionaires. In 1960, a research institute for xerography came into existence named "Wilson Centre for Research and Technology" in Webster, New York. The following year, the company changed its name to "Xerox Corporation, which was also listed on the NYSE.
In 1963, Xerox announced its first plain paper office copier. Ten years later in 1973, a color copier was introduced. In 1971, Gary Starkweather researcher tried to edit a Xerox copier that has resulted in the evolution of the first laser printer in 1977.
Xerox has been revived in the 1980s and 1990s with better quality in design and product mix improved. He was in the 1980s that Apple considered buying Xerox. However, unable to reach an agreement, Apple copied the idea of the interface Xerox graphic for its own personal computers. Xerox case was dismissed because he had spent the third year limitation statute and was too late to file the complaint. The 1990s saw a new look to its product line. high quality printers, scanners, etc. Xerox is a market leader.
Within one year 2000, Xerox acquired Tektronix color printing and imaging division for $ 925 million. Four years later, in September 2004, Xerox celebrated with pride in the 45th anniversary of Xerox 914. After selling over 200,000 units worldwide from 1959 to 1976, production was canceled by the end of 1976. Today, Xerox 914 is a part of American history as an aircraft in the Smithsonian Institution.
